About Zalion
Zalion builds AI agents that automate enterprise procurement — from RFQs to quote negotiations to intake orchestration. 35+ enterprise customers including Mercedes-Benz, Beiersdorf, and Motherson already trust our platform. We're scaling fast across Europe, preparing for US expansion, and looking for the person who turns great customers into transformational partnerships.
The Role
We're looking for the person who turns Zalion into a US category leader - not the person who runs a region someone else built.
You are our first and most senior commercial hire in the US. You own the US market end-to-end: the strategy, the pipeline, the first lighthouse logos, the playbook, and the team that comes after you. You arrive into a company with proven product-market fit, brand-name European customers, and early US traction — and your job is to turn that into a dominant US brand.
You'll close the first wave of US enterprise deals yourself, sitting across from CPOs, CFOs, and COOs at the largest manufacturers and industrial companies in the country. You'll translate what's worked in Europe into a US enterprise motion that's repeatable. And then you'll hire the team that scales it.
This role is based in New York City and reports to the Founder & CRO. You'll work directly with the CEO, rest of the founding team and lead the build-out of Zalion's US org from day one.
What You'll Own
- The US number. You carry and exceed Zalion's US revenue target. The buck stops with you on commercial outcomes in the market.
- The first deals, personally. You close the early US lighthouse logos hands-on. You're not coaching from the sidelines — you're in the rooms, running the cycles, signing the contracts. The playbook gets written from your scar tissue.
- The US sales playbook. Translate Zalion's European motion into a repeatable US enterprise motion. ICP definition, qualification criteria, multi-threading strategy, pricing and packaging, pilot-to-production structure, procurement-of-procurement navigation, competitive positioning against incumbent S2P platforms.
- Hiring and building the US team. Recruit, ramp, and lead the first US commercial hires — AEs, sales engineers, BDRs, and the leadership layer beneath you. You set the talent bar and the culture in the US office.
- Market presence. You are the face of Zalion in the US. Industry events, analyst relationships, executive roundtables, key partnerships — you build Zalion's center of gravity in the US procurement and industrial AI ecosystem.
- GTM strategy with the founders. Partner with the CRO, CEO, and leadership on US-specific positioning, pricing, packaging, and roadmap priorities. The product roadmap will bend to what you learn in US deal cycles, and we'll expect you to make sure it does.
- Cross-functional partnership. Work closely with the Founding Enterprise Lead on the handoff from new logo to expansion, with the Founding Growth Lead on US pipeline generation, and with product and engineering on US-specific customer needs.
What You Won't Do
- Run a "region." This isn't a seat managing a sales team someone else built. There is no US team yet. You build it.
- Manage existing accounts. Our Founding Enterprise Lead owns post-close expansion and renewals globally. You stay focused on net-new US logos and US market development.
- Wait for inbound. Our Founding Growth Lead supports US demand generation, but in year one you'll be outbound-heavy and founder-led. If you need a fully built funnel to close, this isn't the role.
